Far Grander Than Paradise

By Barbara Brown Blythe

Description:

Zorinda Wemblish yearns for adventure and a life beyond her Virginia town filled with narrow-minded people. Her father has been missing for two years, but Zorinda clings to the hope that he will return. When twin eight-year-old runaways seek her protection, she is drawn into the uncompromising, rule-rigid world of Carris Trewellyn.

Captain of one of the fastest clipper ships afloat, Carris Trewellyn has two goals. Make a profit and deliver his dead brother’s children to their grandfather. But when his wards force the exotically beautiful and opinionated Zorinda Wemblish into his life, his goals drastically alter. Zorinda needs a way to find her father, and he needs a governess. Will this voyage bring them what they both so desperately seek?

Book Takeaway:

One can't go back but can embrace the future with God guiding one's steps

Why the author wrote this book:

I've always been fascinated by the clipper ships that ruled the seas in the mid 1800s. My father saw action in World War II in French Polynesia and my mother was an artist, both of them inspiration for the main characters, Carris and Zorinda.
