An Amish Thanksgiving (A Romance): Includes Amish Recipes & Reading Group GuideBy Beth WisemanDescription:
Catherine Lapp doesn't have time for a romantic relationship. Her parents fled her Amish community and left her to tend to her ailing grandmother who suffers from dementia. Often embarrassed by her grandmother's off-the-wall behavior, Catherine mostly stays to herself. Book Takeaway:I think that to really celebrate the essence of Thanksgiving, it is about giving of oneself. All the characters in the story ‘give’ in some way. And, what follows, is a celebration of what goes around comes around. You get what you give. Why the author wrote this book:During the holidays, there is usually a flood of Christmas books hitting the shelves, virtual and otherwise. But I think most of us really feel the season starting to kick into gear around Thanksgiving. I don’t go searching for characters when I write a story. They seem to seek me out and have something to say. My protagonist, Catherine, pushed this story into my mind. Having said that, I’m familiar with dementia and the effects it has not only on the patient but also the caregiver. I wanted to write a story that reflected hope—a real Thanksgiving and what it represents. |
