Interview with Chris Posti

What made you want to become an author?

I’ve always enjoyed writing but never considered myself an author until I wrote my newspaper column and some nonfiction books for business purposes. I was amazed I was able to write well and easily. I thought writing a novel would be somewhat different, but just as easy. Stop laughing.

What did you learn while writing Maybe Now, Maybe Never?

I learned all sorts of painful lessons about how to write a series with multiple main characters. Where did I put that list of the characters and their descriptions? You mean all three titles should resemble one another? Covers too? And each of these three women needs her own arc? Seriously?

If someone were to look at your Google search history (all for research of course!), what types of things would we find?

Amazon, Amazon, Amazon, Goodreads, Bookbub, Facebook, LinkedIn, and “what’s another word for …”

What do you want readers to take away from Maybe Now, Maybe Never?

Whatever your age, you can do it and you certainly should give it a try.

If you could have coffee with an author, dead or alive, whose work you admire, who would that be? What would you ask him or her?

Debbie Macomber or Deborah Raney. I’d ask them: How do you write so much, so well?

What’s your go-to drink while writing?

I always have a glass of a something red-colored nearby, and no, it’s not wine, just flavored water.

If you could give your younger self one piece of advice, what would it be?

I’d tell myself to consider writing as my career path. Writing was always a part of what I did for a living, but I never considered myself a writer until I wrote novels.

What do you enjoy doing when you are not writing?

Our house has an indoor pool, and in Pittsburgh, that’s a great excuse for plenty of parties and visitors.

What books are on your TBR pile right now?

I just finished Debbie Macomber’s Must Love Flowers, and next up are Deborah Raney’s Bridges and Over the Waters. I’ve been to Haiti and so I’m especially eager to read Over the Waters.

What can we look forward to next?

The third book in the series, ‘Tis the Time, ‘Tis the Season, will be released before Christmas, 2024.
