Erin Rainwater

Author Bio:

Erin Rainwater is a Pennsylvania native who probably should have been born in the 19th century but somehow got flash-forwarded into the 20th. There was never any question that she would be a nurse when she grew up, regardless of which century she was in. And beginning in about the seventh grade, there was no question that she’d launch that nursing career in the military. As an Army nurse during the Vietnam War era, she cared for the bodies and spirits of soldiers and veterans, including repatriated POWs and MIAs. It was much later in life that she felt her calling to write wholesome fiction. Her military experience has helped in writing parts of her historical novels. Her Civil War love story, True Colors, was awarded the 2009 Gold Medal in Historical Fiction by the Military Writers Society of America, and a First Place award in Historical Fiction by the Branson Stars & Flags Book Awards.

Her support of the military is ongoing, and one of her favorite pastimes is volunteering at the USO in Denver. She also participated in Operation Desert Swap, a community of authors who sent their novels, along with letters and CARE packages, to their "adopted" soldiers in Iraq. Erin lives near Denver, CO, with her husband of 37+ years, has four children and five grandchildren.
